Jack Johnson ^Ц moonshine
From ^Уthicker than water^Ф soundtrack (2003)
Standard tuning
this is the first track of the thicker than water soundtrack, but has
been bootlegged and is also known as the "thicker than water acoustic
jam". it is a really sweet song to have two acoustic guitars, one doing
the solo part and the other playing the rhythm. listen to the song to
pick up the rhythm. so have a stab at this...
quiet mellow strumming in the background in the beginning goes like this:
e--------0---2---4---4---5---0---0---2---
b--------0---4---5---4---5---0---2---4---
g--------1---2---4---5---6---1---0---2---
d-----2--2---4---6---6---7---2---2---4---
a-2-4----2---2---4---4---5---2---0---2---
E--------0---2---4---4---5---0---0---2---
^These are the chords used to keep rhythm the entire song as well,
before and during the solo.
The solo part goes like this:
e-------------------------9-12-9-7-------12-9-7s-9-
b----------------------------------9-7-7-12-9-7s-9-
g-----9-----9-----9-----9--------------------------
d-9-11--9-11--9-11--9-11---------------------------
a--------------------------------------------------
E--------------------------------------------------
Then strum:
e---9---12---9---7---9---12s---14---
b---9---12---9---7---9---12s---14---
g-----------------------------------
d-----------------------------------
a-----------------------------------
E-----------------------------------
then he shakes it up a little:
e---------------------------------------------
b-9-12-9--------------------------------------
g--------9-11-9-------------------------------
d---------------11-9-11-9----------------9-11-
a-------------------------11-9-7---7-9-11-----
E--------------------------------9-------------
e---------------------7-9-7-----------------------
b------^7-9-6-9-9---9-------9-10-9------9------9--
g-9-11-----------------------------9-11---9-11----
d-------------------------------------------------
a-------------------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------------------
e-------------------------------------12-9------9-7-9s-12-
b------9------9------9-------^7------------12-9-----------
g-9-11---9-11---9-11-----6-9----9-6-9---------------------
d----------------------9----------------------------------
a---------------------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------------------
It ends on this:
e-12-9-7s-9---12-9-7s-9---12-9-7s-9---12-9-7s-9---9s-12-9-
b-12-9-7s-9---12-9-7s-9---12-9-7s-9---12-9-7s-9---9s-12-9-
g---------------------------------------------------------
d---------------------------------------------------------
a---------------------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------------------
"One day, we'd find ourselves on a busy street in Dublin, another
day,we'd be on a riverbank in Burma. And when we would least expect it,
we found ourselves anchored at the edge of an unsurfed reef pass,
paddling out to the best surf of our lives..."
